From industry to innovation

Buiksloterham has a rich history along the IJ—evolving from shipyards and factories into a new, vibrant urban district.

Shaped by the IJ

Buiksloterham has a history rooted in industrial development along the IJ. Once shaped through land reclamation and developed as a working area for shipyards, storage, and water-based trade, it grew into a robust industrial district.

A layered history

Over the years, old warehouses, quays, and factory yards have made way for new plans, yet the raw structure remains clearly recognizable.

In this way, the history of Buiksloterham forms a layered foundation for the transformation the district is undergoing today.

Ready for the future

Each home is designed with a focus on sustainability and comfort—from generous balconies to an energy-efficient approach. ASTR is ready for the future.

The mix of social housing, mid-range rentals, and owner-occupied homes creates a diverse and inclusive neighborhood.
